The Method · Pillar 02
Body
Before insight, before meaning, before any of the harder work — the body has to feel safe enough to do it. Grief and trauma register as sensation first: a tight chest, a held breath, exhaustion that sleep won't touch. We start here, gently teaching your nervous system that it is allowed to come down.
Settle the nervous system.
Primary modality
Somatic & breathwork
This may be your work if…
- A constant low hum of anxiety or bracing
- Trouble sleeping, or sleep that never quite restores
- Feeling numb, far away, or disconnected from your body
- Waves of grief that arrive as physical sensation
What the work looks like
Somatic awareness
Learning to notice where the loss is held in your body — and to be with it, without rushing to fix it.
Breathwork
Simple, guided breathing that signals safety to the nervous system and lets the body soften.
Grounding & co-regulation
Steadying practices, and the regulating presence of another person who isn't afraid of your pain.
