The myth of moving on

Somewhere we picked up the idea that healthy grief means "moving on" — closing a door, turning a page, leaving the loss behind.

But the people we love don't become less ours because they are gone. The goal was never to move on. It is to learn to live with their absence — to let the relationship change form rather than end.

This is the quiet work of spirit: making meaning, keeping bonds, and giving yourself permission to keep loving someone you can no longer hold.

If this is where you are, you don't have to be there alone.
